From Compliments to Closet Staples: Build Your Signature Look
It all begins with an idea.
Start by identifying what you already feel confident in—those pieces that always earn compliments. These are your foundation. From there, experiment. Try swapping out colors, mixing textures, or layering new elements that follow similar lines.
Instead of waiting until 30 minutes before an outing to make a decision, take a rainy Saturday afternoon to play with your closet. Style looks. Try bold combos. That beige suit? Pair it with a neon yellow or deep purple blouse to instantly own the room.
Accessories can do the heavy lifting too. A unique bag brings drama. Jewelry? Always. Silver is having a serious comeback—it's clean, crisp, and channels that effortless “cool girl” energy. Gold, on the other hand, remains timeless and luxe. Mixing metals lets you express different moods and adds flexibility to your look.
We all feel better when we dress the part. If you’re not sure how to begin, use a “style template”—a reliable formula—and push yourself just a little. Not ready to go full leopard pants to dinner? Try them on a short grocery run. Test how you feel in them. Let the world react. Your style will begin to shape itself.
I was recently watching a Bobbi Brown masterclass (which I loved), and she said something that really stuck:
“Have that one thing that is always you.”
It could be red nails, a silver cuff, your go-to watch, or a signature silhouette—like slim pants and a ballet flat. That “one thing” becomes your anchor. It adds integrity to your look and brings a sense of self to everything you wear.
For me, it’s my gold slim cuff bracelets. I wear them everywhere—from the gym to the pharmacy. Since they’re always on, I invested in waterproof, high-quality pieces. When it’s something you’ll wear often, it’s worth the investment.
So no, you don’t need to be a “creative” to build a great wardrobe. You just need a few strong starting points—and the courage to explore from there.
